- The Nothing phone is expected to arrive in April this year.
- It could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
Nothing has so far launched a single ear product (1) TWS wireless headphones. The company is now preparing to launch a smartphone soon, which it has been working on for more than a year. Several leaks and teasers pointed to the same thing. Now a new image has surfaced online which is believed to be of the Nothing phone.
Known leaker Evan Blass shared an image on Twitter that shows Nothing founder Carl Pei (formerly co-founder of OnePlus) showing a device to Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon that is believed to be the prototype for the Nothing phone.
It’s no surprise as it was recently discovered that Pei met with some of the top executives at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 event in Barcelona, to show off the prototype of the upcoming phone. We now have the image of the same.
The leaked image of the alleged smartphone does not reveal much. The image is a little blurry, but we notice that the device does not seem to have a fingerprint sensor on the back. The rear panel and the camera module are not clearly visible. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks for more clarity on what the phone might look like.
The Nothing smartphone will launch in April, sources familiar with the matter tell TechCrunch. It will likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Last month, Pei posted a series of cryptic tweets like “Back to Android 12” and “Android 12 is cool.” Additionally, Android and Snapdragon also responded to the same through their Twitter handles, indicating a three-way partnership.
In an interview with India Today Tech, Manu Sharma, VP and Managing Director of Nothing India, claimed that the company is working on no less than five new products. Although he didn’t mention the categories, one of them is probably smartphones. The list may also include power banks, headphones, and other lifestyle products.
“Moving forward, our mission is to build for the future. We are accelerating very quickly in terms of building a product pipeline, we already have five products in development which we are accelerating to fulfill our mission to launch iconic products and we are thrilled about it,” Sharma told India Today Tech.
