The world’s first 4nm smartphone chipset is already being teased by MediaTek, and although the video doesn’t say much more than “first!” The word has it that the chipset designer has lined up many customers. One of the phones from vivo may just have become the first Android phone to surpass one million points in AnTuTu.

For context, the current best Android phone (the Red Magic 6 with a Snapdragon 888) scored 858,734. Only Apple’s M1-powered iPad Pros have passed the million mark.

The MT6983 is used to power the vivo V2184. this chip is known as Dimensity 2000, and the phone will most likely be a new model of the X series. Both Ice Universe and Digital Chat Station have given the score 1,002,220. AnTuTu has yet to confirm the validity of the score.

Again, the video offers only vague promises of superior performance and battery life, but unofficial reports claim that MediaTek got a 4nm order with TSMC, unlike Qualcomm and Samsung, which will be using both Samsung 4nm foundries.

According to DCS, the Dimensity 2000 will feature a 3.0 GHz Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four A510s. The Exynos 2200 would also target 3.0 GHz for its X2 core, and a photo of a Snapdragon 898-powered phone showed the X2 core at the same 3.0 GHz frequency. This means that the three chipsets can have equal CPU performance, but they will have different GPUs – ARM Mali-G710 MC10 for the Dimensity 2000, an AMD RDNA 2 GPU for the Exynos 2200, and a new Adreno for the Snapdragon 898.
