The Instagram Reels feature was launched in 2020, around the time TikTok was banned in India. The growing reliance on short-form video formats helped Reels become popular in no time. Over the years, Instagram has added various features to Reels to make the short video format more appealing than ever.

Apart from Reels, Instagram offers various other formats such as posts, stories, live videos, among others. The fact is that most of these message or story formats can be easily saved on the phone, storing the reels in the phone gallery is a bit tricky.
