One of the benefits of being part of the Apple ecosystem is that using your iPhone with your Mac is seamless and doesn’t really require much setup. If you’re on Android, that’s a different story unless you’re using a Chrome OS device, but if you’re not, don’t worry.

If you want to connect your Android phone to your Windows 11 PC, Microsoft has actually offered a solution in the form of Phone Link, which is the pre-installed app on your Windows PC, and Link to Windows, which is the companion app that you will need to download for your android phone.

Before proceeding, here are the requirements set by Microsoft for this configuration to work:

  • A PC running Windows 10 (with May 2019 Update or later) or Windows 11.
  • An Android device running Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later.
  • Your phone and PC must both be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Link Android Phone to Windows 11

  1. Open the start menu and type “Phone Link” (download it if you can’t find it)
  2. Click Start
  3. On your Android phone, download the Link to Windows app
  4. Once the app is installed, go back to your PC and check the box “I have the link to the Windows app ready” and click on “Pair with QR code”
  5. Give it a few seconds and a new window should appear with a QR code
  6. On your Android phone, launch Link to Windows and press “Continue” and point the camera at the QR code on your computer screen
  7. Once your phone and computer are connected, grant the app the requested permissions
  8. Once permissions are granted, tap “Continue” on the app
  9. Tap “Allow” when asked to allow the app to run in the background
  10. Go back to your PC and click on the “Continue” button and you are done
  11. Now you can start linking notifications, messages and photos through the Phone Link app. Just click on any of the features and it will launch a tutorial on what settings you need to change and what permissions you need to allow

Keep in mind that unlike Apple’s ecosystem, this works more like a mirror of your phone on your PC. This means that if your phone is out of WiFi range or not connected to the same WiFi as your PC, it will not work.

It’s more for people who work at their desk and want to be able to get their phone notifications and messages on their PC so they don’t have to disrupt their workflow and reach for their phone every time. a notification or message arrives.
